Placement Exams in quantitative reasoning (undergraduates only), mathematics, and chemistry are required for some incoming undergraduate and postbac premed students to help determine what level of courses they are prepared to take. Placement Exams are offered throughout the summer and during Orientation Week in the fall and spring semesters.

Students should consult with their advisor and the Placement Exams section of the Newly Admitted Students page to determine if they are required to take any of these exams. More details and a schedule of exams are available on the websites below.

Please note that each placement exam may only be taken once.

Important Notes

  • Registration closes two hours prior to an exam.
  • Students MUST arrive 15 minutes prior to an exam.
  • There are no practice exams for the Placement Exams. Students should refer to the relevant Placement Exam page(s) for information about topics that will be covered.
  • Students will receive their Placement Exam scores immediately following the completion of the exams, and are asked to wait for results. However, students will not be provided with corrected exams.
  • Students who have questions after receiving their results should follow up with their academic advisor.
  • Because a course may fill up before a student is able to take the relevant placement exam, students are allowed to register for courses contingent upon the outcome of a placement exam. Students who do not receive the required score for a given course will be required to modify their registration.
  • Students must pass Math I before they are able to take Math II. Students interested in beginning Calculus I should plan to register for both Math I and Math II exams.

Registration is no longer available.
